Fairfax Pet Care is happy to offer the best in local training for your dog. Our trainers, Randy and Leighann, will work with you and your dog to help them be the very best they can be! (Questions? Check out our FAQ Page or Contact Us!)
Here’s a little about Randy:
In 1998, Randy first became interested in dog training, upon rescuing two pitbulls, Lucy and Ricky. When it came time for a career change it was easy for him to decide on the path to follow. He obtained his professional dog training certification through the Animal Behavior College. He went on to complete an immersion program at the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in northern California and then traveled south to study under Cesar Millan. The combination of positive reinforcement and proper use of energy creates a healthy atmosphere for both dog and owner to learn.
Randy also works with shelter dogs at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter to help make them more adoptable. He and his wife, Susie, have three dogs of their own.
Randy, Susie, Annie, Moshi and Shayna live in Fairfax, Virginia.
Leighann started her career and love of animals at an early age by raising ducks, turtles, birds, hamsters, rats, squirrels (yes, really), dogs, rabbits, cats, and all other critters that needed care.
Many years of experience and research taught Leighann that reward-based training methods are not only the quickest way to improve cognitive understanding, but also the most humane.
Reward-based training is easy, fun and best of all, creates a mutual bond between owner and pet. Leighann will use various reward-based techniques to create a respectful, harmonious, and mutual relationship between you and your pet that will enhance communication on both ends of the leash.
Leighann’s specialties include Puppy Basics 101, Basic & Advanced Obedience, Board & Train Programs, Clicker Training, In-home training, Exercise Sessions, and Trick Dog Training.
Leighann also works with shelter dogs at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter to help make them more adoptable. Leighann is an active member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the Pet Professional Guild, and has completed the Karen Pryor Clicker Training Foundations Program. Leighann is passionate about continuing education and regularly attends training seminars and workshops to fine tune her skills.
Leighann, her husband Rob and their Labrador Retriever Chloe live in Reston, Virginia, where they enjoy hiking, beer brewing (spent grain dog biscuits are Chloe’s favorite),and hanging out with two and four-legged friends.
A 90 minute consultation is the first step. Randy or Leighann will meet with you and your dog, and get a good understanding of what it is you would like to accomplish. They will discuss your goals, and come up with a personalized training plan for you. This consultation also includes a private lesson.
After the initial consultation, you can elect to move forward with a training package based upon your discussions with your trainer.
